When I first walked up to City Center Apartment on Strada Lev Tolstoi, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in simple packages. This apartment sits right in the heart of Chişinău, and I mean really in the heart — you’re basically surrounded by everything that makes Moldova’s capital tick. The building itself is understated, but there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you from the outside.

I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Chişinău, and honestly, this location is pretty hard to beat. You’re on one of those tree-lined streets that actually feels European — Lev Tolstoi is quiet enough that you won’t hear traffic all night, but you can walk to Stefan cel Mare Boulevard in about five minutes. The locals clearly know something we tourists are just figuring out, because this area has that lived-in feel where you’ll see people walking their dogs and chatting with neighbors. Plus, and this is huge for anyone driving, there’s free parking right there — no hunting around for spots or feeding meters.

Inside Story

The room itself surprised me in the best way. It’s not fancy, but it’s thoughtfully set up — like someone actually considered how real people live and travel. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh produce from the Central Market (which is walking distance, by the way) and make yourself breakfast. I mean, hotel breakfasts are fine, but there’s something nice about brewing your own coffee and eating tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes. The space feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room, which some people love and others might find too casual.

What Works Here

Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the basics absolutely right. The WiFi actually works (I was video calling back home without any issues), the shower has proper water pressure, and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. It’s clean without being sterile, quiet without being isolated. The whole setup just makes sense, especially if you’re planning to spend your days exploring the city rather than lounging around your accommodation.

Why Guests Love It

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something romantic about having your own little space in the middle of a city that’s still discovering itself. You can walk to the National Opera in fifteen minutes, duck into cozy wine bars (Moldova makes some seriously good wine, trust me), or just wander the parks when you need a break from sightseeing. The 9.9 rating isn’t some fluke — this place delivers exactly what it promises, without any pretense or hidden fees. Sometimes that’s worth more than all the fancy amenities in the world.

  Чудова квартира, дуже чисто, є все необхідне для перебування, зручне розташування в центрі міста і в 1 км від залізничного вокзалу. В нас було багато валіз, тому наявність пандусу та великого ліфту в домі було доречно. Дуже приємна хазяйка, зустріла і завжди була на звʼязку, допомогла із викликом таксі
